Match 37: SRH vs PBKS
Despite Jason Holder’s all-around effort, PBKS held their nerve and defeated SRH in Match 37 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Abdul Samad dismissed Makram for 27 runs after Markram and Deepak Hooda brought PBKS close to the 90-run milestone.
PBKS were confined to a modest score of 125/7, but youngster Ravi Bishnoi and experienced bowler Mohammad Shami were decisive in the team’s five-run victory.
As PBKS achieved a 125/7 score, Harpreet Brar and Ellis both contributed key runs at the end. Later in the chase, SRH lost David Warner and Kane Williamson, with Shami hitting during the first and third overs, respectively.
Also, Manish Pandey was sent to the dugout as Bishnoi grabbed his first wicket. Wriddhiman Saha and Kedar Jadhav collaborated for 24 runs, but Bishnoi’s dual wicket over restricted SRH to 60/5.
Holder then came next on the turf to bat, smashing the PBKS bowlers with a fast 32-run partnership with Wriddhiman Saha, later Saha was run-out in the 17th over. As SRH surpassed a hundred, Holder continued to fight back.
SRH was in need of 21 runs in the last two spells but Arshdeep Singh managed to bowl a superb 19th spell giving just four runs.
Nathan Ellis stopped Holder and Bhuvneshwar striking huge hits as PBKS strolled to win in a low-scoring contest. Holder smashed a six in the last over. Earlier, an unaltered SRH decided to play with the same squad, but PBKS made three team changes- Chris Gayle, Bishnoi, and Ellis.
